Night Before

Let's get to the point.  It's the night before I get a new knee.  I'm excited, nervous and I won't lie, scared.  It's been a long road to get to this point and I hate that I've gotten old.  Well, specifically that my knees have gotten old.

I'm not sure why my knees fell apart (actually they've fallen together) but about 6 years ago my knees started sounding like Rice Krispies.  You know, snap, crackle and pop.  I've tried all of the non-surgical remedies and none of them worked.  That's not true.  They worked for a while.  So, here I am, trying to relax and look forward to tomorrow.

The TacoBed refers to the bed my husband Chuck and I bought a few weeks ago.  It is the best old fart bed in the world.  A super duper fully ergonomic Tempur-Pedic!  It really can fold up, with me in it, like a taco.  What completes the package is the flat screen TV.  I'm a bit worried that at some point someone will miss us and wonder where we are only to find out that we're stuck in the TacoBed with old pizza boxes, Cheetos and beer bottles on top.  That would make one heck of a "Hoarders" episode!

My friend Chris Jackson suggested I set up a webcam over the TacoBed but I think I'll save everyone the pain of seeing us in assorted positions in the bed.  However, I may have to setup a ScarCam so everyone can keep up with the knee scar.  It'll give me something to do and gross you out at the same time.  Sounds like a win-win situation!

This is my first foray into writing a blog and I do it because I will have nothing better to do than bore you and I thought I would try and chronicle my adventures in knee replacement surgery and recovery.  Should be painful so you'll want to tune in!

Any words of comfort and support are welcome.  Dirty jokes are too but send those to me privately! :)

PS(Just showered with the antibacterial soap the hospital gave me.  Kind of smells like the dog's soap.  Now I'm kind of itchy...)
